South Carolina Greenville County Travelers Rest
Travelers Rest is located in Greenville County
on US 25, north of the City of Greenville
In the early 1800s, it earned its name as a stopping place for travelers in the foothills of the mountains. Lodging at the hospitable inn there included shelter for horses and livestock, distinguishing it as a delux stopover in its time.
When the town was incorporated in 1891 it encompassed two train depots, one for the Carolina Knoxville Line and one for the Western Railway Company.
