Pelion, South CarolinaSouth Carolina Pelion is located in Lexington County, southwest of Columbia, at the junction of US 178 and SC 302. Here are maps of the Lexington area and of the Columbia area. Each year since 1982, Pelion has hosted the annual South Carolina Peanut Party to celebrate boiled peanuts – such a statewide favorite that in 2006, they were officially designated our state snack food. Beginning the afternoon prior to the party and continuing throughout the night, members of the Pelion Ruritan Club boil over 130 bushels of peanuts in huge pots set up near the community center. The two-day festival includes a Peanut Princess Pageant, a parade, a Battle of the Bands, and peanut butter sandwich eating contest. General Information, Jobs
