North is located in Orangeburg County
at the junction of US 321 and US 178. It was established in 1891 when John F. North, Samson A. Livingston, and George W. Pou each donated 100 acres of land for a town and a railroad depot. The town was named in honor of John F. North, the oldest of the three donors.
