Mount Croghan, South Carolina
South Carolina Chesterfield County Mount Croghan
In Chesterfield County, only Chesterfield and Cheraw have been established longer than Mount Croghan. In 1780 the Revolutionary War Major Croan made camp here as his troops traveled to Virginia after the Battle of Camden and he gave the place its name. A community grew up around the campsite and by 1809 Mount Croghan was a voting precinct and had a post office.
Mount Croghan is located midway between Chesterfield and Pageland. Cheraw is the largest nearby city. Here is a map of the Cheraw area.
