Lake Secession, South Carolina
South Carolina Abbeville County Lake Secession
In 1940, the City of Abbeville took over a failing, privately-funded project to construct the Rocky River Dam. The project was completed and Lake Secession was formed for the purpose of generating electricity. The City of Abbeville still owns the 1,460 acres of shoreline. However, private development along the lake is increasing as people discover the beauty of the lake.
Lake Secession crosses county lines flowing in Abbeville County and Anderson County. Here are maps of the Abbeville area and the Anderson area.
