Harleyville used to have a problem with their town limit signs being stolen. The assumption was that having a Harleyville sign was prestigeous among some motorcyclists. Well, the town got smart and started offering the signs for sale.
Problem solved. Harleyville's town signs stopped disappearing from their posts in the middle of the night, and in the first six months of sales, the town was ahead $5,600 after expenses.
