Cheraw is located in Chesterfield County, which borders the North Carolina state line in northeastern South Carolina. US 1 and US 52 intersect in the heart of town. Here is a map of the Cheraw area.

While an official Cheraw resolution designates the town's pronunciation "chuh-RAW," many people seem to be divided about the proper way to say this name, with lots of folks saying "shuh-RAW" instead.
